UX Research 101 Programme

A complete introduction to the practice of user research.

A full day workshop covering the core principles, giving insight to the practical application of research methodologies to support the UX design process.

For businesses, design teams, small groups, or individuals - those who wish to learn more about the subject, including product managers, UX designers, BA’s, junior researchers. No previous knowledge or experience required.

The training programme covers:

  • What is user research? Why and when to conduct research with users

  • What are the different types of study? The differences between qual and quant, formative and summative, and the values and benefits of triangulation

  • What are the methods utilised in user research? An overview of the variety of methods available, and advice on when to use them

  • What are the core methods? Detailed information on in-depth interviews, usability testing, and surveys. Including how many participants to test with, how to categorise and report the severity of usability issues, and how to work with metrics like system usability scale

  • How do researchers deal with bias? Being aware of your own assumptions and tips to avoid confirmation bias

  • How do researchers analyse results? An introduction to different types of analysis and useful tools to use

  • What about in the real world? Tips and tricks to planning and conducting successful studies, and working with cross functional teams as the sole researcher

Research ops is a fairly new concept in the user research world, but is an essential part of streamlining our work, and making us more efficient and effective members of the product teams we work in.
